Experience an extraordinary evening of world-class dance as Saint Louis Ballet brings a dynamic program of classical beauty and contemporary artistry to Columbia. Under the direction of internationally acclaimed Executive and Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi, the company has become one of the Midwest’s leading professional ballet organizations, celebrated for its artistic excellence, acclaimed dancers, and compelling repertoire. Horiuchi, a former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet and internationally recognized choreographer, has transformed Saint Louis Ballet into a nationally respected company known for both beloved classics and innovative contemporary works.

The evening’s program showcases the remarkable range of the company, opening with Act II of Swan Lake, choreographed by Gen Horiuchi — the iconic “white swan” act set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score. Filled with ethereal corps de ballet formations, haunting romance, and breathtaking classical technique, this treasured masterpiece remains one of ballet’s most celebrated works.

Also featured is the pas de deux from Carousel (A Dance) by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, renowned for his work on Broadway’s An American in Paris and creations for the world’s leading ballet companies. Elegant, emotional, and deeply musical, this duet offers a moving blend of ballet and theatrical storytelling.

Closing the program is Gen Horiuchi’s spirited St. Louis Blues, a vibrant work inspired by the energy and soul of the city itself. Blending classical technique with jazz-infused movement and theatrical flair, the ballet highlights the versatility and athleticism of Saint Louis Ballet’s internationally selected dancers.
